Beula

Grade 6

Beula hails from the town of Rongo. For the first few years of her education, Beula recalls “not liking school very much. When I was sent to school, I would hide in the bushes then come back home.” At the time, she was in a small school with only seven other students in her class and one textbook for all of them to share. For Beula, coming to Kakenya’s Dream changed her perspective on education.

“I learned the importance of education, that it can help you achieve your dreams and help other people like you.” Now, she looks forward to school, because “Kakenya’s Dream provided me with my own textbooks, menstrual pads, and enough food so you can easily be comfortable in classes. You’re safe and free here.”

In the future, Beula hopes to become a scientist and “make medications for people with different diseases.”
