Kakenya’s Dream, in collaboration with the Narok County Government and a coalition of dedicated partners, continues to champion the adoption and implementation of the Gender and Anti-FGM Policy Matrixes—critical frameworks designed to end harmful cultural practices and advance gender equality across the county.
Through the Gender Technical Working Group (GTWG), we are proud to join hands with organizations including AMREF, WeWorld, CREAW Kenya, MMWCA, FAWE Kenya, ILO/Forum CIV, Population Council, and World Vision, among others. Together, we are pushing for sustainable, community-rooted solutions that protect the rights, safety, and wellbeing of girls and women.
This collective advocacy recently culminated in a sensitization workshop between November 10-12 for Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) and other legislative leaders. The workshop aimed to deepen policymakers’ understanding of the urgent issues facing girls and women, including FGM, child marriage, teenage pregnancy, and gender-based violence, and to strengthen their commitment to gender-responsive governance, adequate resource allocation, and effective legislative oversight.
Kakenya’s Dream has played a pivotal role in mobilizing technical and advocacy support for this effort, fostering open dialogue, building local capacity, and ensuring that grassroots voices—especially those of girls and women—remain at the heart of the policy process. By working closely with county leaders and civil society partners, we continue to reinforce a simple but powerful message: lasting change begins with informed, accountable, and compassionate leadership.
These collaborations mark an important step forward in Narok County’s journey toward a more equitable future. One where every girl and woman can live free from violence and discrimination and fully participate in shaping the communities they call home.
